Hi everyone - or, as we sometimes say in New Zelaland, "kia ora". Do you know what language that is? It is unique to New Zealand. We are also known as "Aotearoa". This has a special meaning....
I am the lucky teacher of the Room5ians. Some of my students will no doubt fill you in on where we are and what we do.
I look forward to us learning together about each other.
In the U.S.A there are many different languages spoken. we just did a survey in our class. Students in our class can speak Italian, Spanish, French, German, and of course English.
The USA is a mixture of many different cultures, beliefs, and languages. People come here to live, work, and visit from almost every country around the world. We have been called a melting pot and a grand mosaic. I have friends in many other countries that have been here. They say this diversity is very unique to the USA, though other countries are starting to experience the same thing.
In New Zealand our main to languages that we speak are Maori and English. Maby some time for a couple of weeks we could try and learn one of each others languages!!! Hei Kona ra (good bye)
Snow Girl - That is a great idea. Possibly we could exchange via e-mail sound recordings of how to speak certain words! Talk to your classmates and see what they feel. My class, how do you feel about this idea?

At the moment I would say 20 degrees in NZ (if that is what you are asking for) and in summer, it doesn't get too hot. Hamilton (where we are) got a huge drought though. In fact most of Waikato (our region) was in a drought. We dairy-farm a lot of the time, so it was hard for us to get good milk. Did the price sky-rocket, anyone?
All should understand that New Zealand uses a different measurement system than the US. We use the standard system. In the standard system, the measurement for temperature is Fahrenheit. New Zealand uses Celsius.
Can anyone convert the temperature in New Zealand to Fahrenheit? Today in the US the temperature was 42 degrees Fahrenheit. Can anyone convert it to Celsius?
hi, another thing that we discussed in class today is that americans and newzealanders disagree over who we think was first to fly. newzealnaders think richard pierce flew first in 1903 10th of july. americans think the wright brothers they were first to fly. if you want to read loads about richard pierce visit this website: http://www.fiddlersgreen.net/AC/aircraft/Pearse-FlyingMachine/info/info.htm if you want to find out about the wright brothers visit these websites: http://www.geocities.com/raf_112_sqdn/americans_and_poles.html http://www.alldeaf.com/current-events/6400-wright-brothers-fraud.html so mr teehans class, who do you think flew first, can you prove your point? we should have debates over who we think flew first! goodbye :-)
Congrats backflip on adding your icon! I think our New Zealand friends have a great idea to debate the topic of who flew first. What does everyone else think? I'll add that as a new post for people to respond to. If it is something people would like to do, let's get the project under way!
hi everyone, if you want to can you please go to my blog http://kakepukukatastrophe.blogspot.com it has my kakepuku story on. please give me ways to improve my writing

Hello I am Jenn, I am in Florida on vacation, visiting my grandparents. I will miss a few days of school, so I wanted you all to keep me updated on everthing.
today in class something i found interesting ( i find everything interesting) was when mr woody brought up feeling sorry for random things. for instance he said that he felt sorry for the knives forks and spoons that he didn't use as much he felt sorry for. some people said that they feel sorry for the soft teddies that the don't cuddle as often.i feel sorry for the cookies I don't eat so I end up eating a whole packet. I feel sorry for the letters on the keyboard I dont use as often so i end up doing this zzzzzzzzzxxxxxxxxxx and carry on and on pressing them for ages. if you want you can go to my blog http://classresearch5.blogspot.com and comment on my post called 'what we feel sorry for' and see what everyone else says. thanks bye :-)
heyyy fred who were you talking too? me? anybody? well if you were talking about me a always either play on the computer orrrrr whatch t.v!!! btbtbtbtbt
hi backflip, sometimes we have half days, only on occasions like teachers meetings, end of school day, sometimes days with big events on at our school like athletics we get half days and yeh. when do you have half days in new jersey?
New Zealand has won the America's Cup a few times and so has America keeping it for more than 100 years! But now SWITZERLAND has it! UP SUISSE! UP SUISSE! UP SUISSE! Sorry other ROOM5IANS and NEW JERSEYIANS! 8^D3
in new zealand we have this little town called waihi and in waihi is a massive whole! it is called martha mine. at martha mine they mine gold and silver, but mostly silver. i visited it with my class last year and it was awesome. we learnt the process of mining gold and silver. to describe what it looks like, it is a huge hole that starts big at the top and then gradually as it goes deeper it gets smaller and smaller. it is really pretty but soon, the people who work there will be turning it into a enormous lake. to see what martha mine looks like you can go to this website: http://www.marthamine.co.nz/ it has a picture of martha mine and loads of info about martha mine, mining, and gold and silver . i thought you might be interested in that since people havn't been talking on this part of the blog lately. thanks bye :-)
the cluster map is a map of the world, it shows you where people visit your blog from around the world. for instance, if someone viewed your blog from mongolia you could go onto your map and where the red dot is it means someones viewed your blog in that country! the bigger the red dot is the more people have visited your class blog!!
Ok OK OK I have been away. What's going on. What have I missed. Oh by the way on vacation I saw this movie called Whale Rider. It was made in NZ and took place in NZ. It was pretty good. I didn't understand the parts that were in Maori.
Also I'm not doing the USA 101 collom any more. To see that go my upcoming blog. Address will be posted soon. Also today is March 31. THe last entry was writed on March 24. Keep it going.
i think we were the irst to have a negotiated treaty for colonisation between Britain and the indigenous people. In Australia they simply tried to exterminate the Aboriginal people.
Mr WOody, what the Auzzies did was horrible! And we are supposed to be partially related! Urgh! What horrible people! If we had turned Auzzie Cheetalicious, Kitty Milo and others would be GONE forever...

Hamilton (where we are) got a huge drought though. In fact most of Waikato (our region) was in a drought. We dairy-farm a lot of the time, so it was hard for us to get good milk. Did the price sky-rocket, anyone?
yes the drought ius a bit of a problem, but it is usually quite moist in the waikato the is why it is famous for dairy farming!
Did anyone notice that a lot of the cites, towns, places etc are maori names? For example, Waikato, Kaitaia, Tauranga, Rotorua, Taupo...
Heyy everyone check out my blog at moretalklesschalk.blogspot.com
All should understand that New Zealand uses a different measurement system than the US. We use the standard system. In the standard system, the measurement for temperature is Fahrenheit. New Zealand uses Celsius.
Can anyone convert the temperature in New Zealand to Fahrenheit? Today in the US the temperature was 42 degrees Fahrenheit. Can anyone convert it to Celsius?
yah im a gymnast hehe
im pretty sure 32 degrees farenheit is about 0 degrees celcius therefore it was like 2 degrees celcius which is like a winter morning for us!!
hi, another thing that we discussed in class today is that americans and newzealanders disagree over who we think was first to fly. newzealnaders think richard pierce flew first in 1903 10th of july. americans think the wright brothers they were first to fly.
if you want to read loads about richard pierce visit this website:
http://www.fiddlersgreen.net/AC/aircraft/Pearse-FlyingMachine/info/info.htm
if you want to find out about the wright brothers visit these websites:
http://www.geocities.com/raf_112_sqdn/americans_and_poles.html
http://www.alldeaf.com/current-events/6400-wright-brothers-fraud.html
so mr teehans class, who do you think flew first, can you prove your point? we should have debates over who we think flew first!
goodbye :-)
I am pretty sure 42 fahrenheit is 5.555 celsius.
I think it was the Wright Brothers. I think i've herd that they were the first people to fly.
The icon thing worked!!!!
LOL I made a blog for fun, not too good either. I was bored.
Congrats backflip on adding your icon! I think our New Zealand friends have a great idea to debate the topic of who flew first. What does everyone else think? I'll add that as a new post for people to respond to. If it is something people would like to do, let's get the project under way!

I feel sorry for the letters on the keyboard I dont use as often so i end up doing this zzzzzzzzzxxxxxxxxxx and carry on and on pressing them for ages. if you want you can go to my blog
http://classresearch5.blogspot.com and comment on my post called 'what we feel sorry for' and see what everyone else says. thanks bye

New Zealand has won the America's Cup a few times and so has America keeping it for more than 100 years!
But now SWITZERLAND has it!
UP SUISSE! UP SUISSE! UP SUISSE!
Sorry other ROOM5IANS and NEW JERSEYIANS!

yay go switzerland!
in new zealand we have this little town called waihi and in waihi is a massive whole! it is called martha mine. at martha mine they mine gold and silver, but mostly silver. i visited it with my class last year and it was awesome. we learnt the process of mining gold and silver.
to describe what it looks like, it is a huge hole that starts big at the top and then gradually as it goes deeper it gets smaller and smaller.
it is really pretty but soon, the people who work there will be turning it into a enormous lake.
to see what martha mine looks like you can go to this website:
http://www.marthamine.co.nz/
it has a picture of martha mine and loads of info about martha mine, mining, and gold and silver .
i thought you might be interested in that since people havn't been talking on this part of the blog lately.
thanks
bye
:-)
HAPPY EASTER!!
Does anyone know what the cluster map is???
Oh and Jenna how's your trip??
the cluster map is a map of the world, it shows you where people visit your blog from around the world. for instance, if someone viewed your blog from mongolia you could go onto your map and where the red dot is it means someones viewed your blog in that country!
the bigger the red dot is the more people have visited your class blog!!
backflip2396- its going really well thanks for asking! O'h and Happy Easter to you and everyone else. See you soon!
Byee = )
Ok OK OK
I have been away.
In Australia they simply tried to exterminate the Aboriginal people.
hi
Mr WOody, what the Auzzies did was horrible! And we are supposed to be partially related! Urgh! What horrible people! If we had turned Auzzie Cheetalicious, Kitty Milo and others would be GONE forever...
